The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes- The Hunger Games

Updated: Jan 7, 2024

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is an apocalyptic action story written by an

American author, Suzanne Collins, which was then transformed into a movie and

released by Lionsgate Films in the United States on November 17th 2023. Ever since,

the film has made over $281.8 million globally.

In previous books in the Hunger Games series, the plot would mainly be about a District 12 tribute, Katniss Everdeen, who has been selected to battle against other youths to the death until only one remains, simply for entertainment and money. Katniss would not have much to rely on besides her rad hunting abilities and her speedy thinking, but in the arena, Katniss would find herself struggling to balance love and survival.

Interestingly, the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes mainly talks about Presidents Snow’s

backstory and there is no Katniss involved. The piece highlights President Snow’s

relationship with a District 12 tribute who goes by the name Lucy Gray Baird during

the early 10th Hunger Games.
