The importance of subjects in school

Kysha

In schools, having subjects is a must as that is the foundation and key to our learning. Without it, we would just be learning everything in a bundle. And to find something under a specific topic, it would be exactly like finding a needle in a haystack.

To find the importance of subjects and which is the most important along with other questions regarding subjects, I asked a few students in Year 7 to seek various answers.

Ellery from class 7T has stated that without subjects, we wouldn’t be able to differentiate real-life subjects and we wouldn’t know how to organise the world in front of us. She also mentioned that our core subjects (English, Science and Maths) are core for a reason. “They are the most important in our world”. Meaning, we use them the most and benefit from them.

On the other hand, Zarya from 7B has said something similar. “I think subjects are important because they are preparing us for real-life problems”. It teaches us many life lessons and solves many complicated problems. Although for Zarya, she commented that English would be the most important subject due to its importance of communication. We use it all over the world and it plays a big role in life.

As for me though, I personally agree with both their responses as to why subjects are important. However, I have a slightly different opinion on which is the most important subject. I think that Maths would be the most important subject as you have to calculate taxes, expenses, prices of products and much more. Maths would be the most important in my opinion as you need it to live a good life.

What do you have to say about subjects? Comment your opinions!
