Schedules. This is something we, as students, have to face every single day. But schedules are more than just classroom numbers and times. Every single schedule is unique and individual and they are all created distinctively to help us learn, innovate and create. Read on to dive into the schedules of us, the deputies at We At Tenby, to learn how they shape us as part of the Tenby community.

My favorite day of the week is none other than Tuesday; it mostly has light-weight lessons, including one of my favorites - Food Technology. We start off with PSHE, where most tasks are done in groups. In my French lessons we usually take notes, carry out discussions and answer comprehension questions which means we rarely get any leftover work! Now, just one more class before lunch! This class is Food Tech. Throughout the week, we usually have a few lessons on theory and then plan and create a dish that links to a certain topic. Finally, it’s the end of my schedule and I have one of the best classes to conclude the day with; English! English mainly consists of exhilarating writing tasks and discussions. Throughout the week, depending on the subject, the workload can get quite heavy. Personally for me, the best tip I can give you is to finish your extra work within a certain amount of time to avoid tasks piling up!

My schedule is something that is very familiar and important to me as it has guided me through my days at Tenby for the past 12 years. It’s hard for me to establish in my mind a specific subject or day that is my absolute favourite as all of it has its ups and downs, however the two days that always guarantee to put a smile on my face are Tuesday and Friday. Those days are made of lessons that really let me express myself to the fullest. That pair of days are built up of lessons that really spark my creativity and innovation as well as help me in understanding the world around me. These hour-long classes are Art, Drama, English, French, Business and last but certainly not least, our new Future skills lessons! The workload for these subjects can become quite heavy at times, what with the scripts to memorize, artworks to analyze or conjugations to remember, however with the help of my teachers and peers, this heavy load can easily be managed. That being said, don’t be afraid to ask questions and speak out! Personally, I think my school schedule rocks! Sure it is different from year 9 but this just helps me adapt and develop. My advice is to plan everything out, keep a healthy balance between school work and time for yourself and you should be good to go! Oh, and don’t be too hard on yourself!

Nowadays, being a year 10 student tends to get pretty stressful, however there are days where things are easier for us. Tuesday is my favourite day of the week - there aren’t many books to pack and the classes are to my liking. I start the day off with PSHE, where we usually do group work and discussions. Then, I have Mandarin. Here, we normally get worksheets and go over the answers together in class. After that, I have Art, which is where I can set my creativity free. Finally, we end the day with English, where I am able to write any kind of story. Tuesday doesn’t usually leave me with a lot of homework which is part of the reason why it is my favourite day of the week. Sometimes we do get loads of homework and stressful days, but if we balance our time out properly, everything will be just fine.

Friday: the day I most look forward to, not only because it’s the last day of school but I have some of my favourite subjects on my Friday schedule. My day starts off with English – my favourite subject and highlight of my day. I enjoy the act of nit-picking authors’ lifes’ work and pondering a few of life’s most important questions, “What am I having for lunch today?” With all jokes aside, English holds a special place in my heart and I look up to the authors who are able to encapsulate complex human emotions in lines of words cleverly strung together on a page. I have History after chemistry and breakfast, another favourite subject of mine. Although history can be tough, (and even at times headache inducing) I enjoy it nevertheless. I end my day with Design Technology and I rush to get back home and complete all my homework so I’m free for the weekend. Acclimatizing to the Year 10 schedule has been quite stressful as the threat of impending exams loom over me and the pressure from my parents to score builds; I’ve discovered talking to my tutor and friends about my struggle really has helped me alleviate some of my distress. I always make sure to ask for permission before I vent.
