A meal at Alexis

For people like me, eating is a must and I would do anything, and I mean anything to eat food. And a great thing about that, is that trying new food from different cultures, restaurants, countries and more is such a pleasure to me. I grew up being a picky eater but slowly I began to eat and try more food. Some food I love would be: pasta, cheese, bananas and bread. It seems quite a boring bunch, but if you mix them with the right condiments and sides, it would be a whole new dish!
Recently, I got the opportunity to go and have a lovely meal at Alexis, Bangsar Shopping Centre. As I don’t go there often, trying new food on the menu is a must. This time, I was craving for some good old bread and salmon. Of course, I got the ‘Open Face Salmon Sandwich’ under the ‘Starter, sandwich and others’ section in the menu. A salmon sandwich was just what I needed after a tiring lesson of Ballet. Where else to go than Alexis?
This sandwich was made up of the ingredients: house cured Norwegian salmon gravalax, chive cream cheese, avocado and organic egg on rye bread. It was quite a healthy bunch of ingredients. The salmon was extremely fresh and well salted. However, the bread crusts were slightly too hard for my braces. Apart from those and a small portion, the sandwich itself was delightfully appetizing. I definitely recommend.
Another dish I’ve tried from the menu is the ‘Margherita Pizza’ under the ‘Pizza’ section. I’ve never been a fan of multiple toppings on a pizza so this was the one I chose. It’s the simple cheese pizza everyone loves. The pizza itself was just tomato sauce, mozzarella and basil. Nothing much really, but it tasted divine. Sometimes simple is better. The crust however, was quite thin and crunchy but nonetheless the pizza was lovely. It isn’t too big or too small and can serve 1-2 people. Depending on how hungry you are.
One last dish I tried was the Caesar Salad. And like I have mentioned previously, I was a picky eater who despised vegetables so for me to eat a salad was a miracle! Normally, I would just eat the wheaty and flaky croutons but I decided to be bold and eat vegetables. The dressing was just the right touch for the blandness of the vegetables. The salad also included crunchy strips of beef bacon along with parmesan to top it all off. As it was part of the starter section (like the ‘Open Face Salmon Sandwich’), the portion was not much and not filling but it is a starter after all.
