Cultures Around the World

Ethan

International Week, an anticipated week by many students interested in learning about the different and unique cultures around the world. Personally, International Week was a great learning experience for many students including myself. We had a discussion regarding international affairs and suggested ways to improve the system to combat affairs like these from repeating in the future. We even decorated our class with facts about Pakistan, and decorated the door with the Pakistan flag. We were even happier to find out that the school was willing to let us dress up in our own cultural clothing.

Furthermore, my classmates and I were lucky enough to explore the amazing country of Pakistan, and in turn we learned so many new facts about it. Did you know that Pakistan's national animal is the Markhor, also known as the "screw-horned goat"? It has the 7th largest collection of scientists and engineers, with the youngest being 5 years old. It's the world's second largest Muslim-populated country, and so on. Without being able to experience International Week, I would have never learned about this interesting country and how diverse with cultural art it really is. Truly an eye opening experience. Here are some comments about International Week experiences that some students have shared:

"I learned the interesting culture of Pakistan."

"So apparently pasta is from Italy, and not France!"

"I learned Iraq's interesting history."

"Honestly International Week was fun as I got to learn about different countries and their cultures."

"International Week gave me the opportunity to explore the differences between countries."

Overall, International Week was an amazing experience and personally I feel that students as a whole have found this enjoyable and a fun learning experience.
