“To the world you are a dad. To our family you are our world” -Unknown. And my dad is no different. With unconditional love and tremendous sacrifice, he works his hardest everyday to make my brother and and I happy. Taking care of our every need and always putting us first makes him the best father anyone could ever hope for. Even through the toughest of times, he will always find a way to cheer us up, to inspire us and to motivate us. Every morning before he leaves for work and every night when he returns, no matter how tired he is, he will make sure to spend time with us. We know that he will always be there for us, whether it’s to support us or to motivate us. We know that when we need it and even when we don’t, he will continue to shower us with unconditional love and that is why we try our very best to make Father’s Day as special and as memorable as we possibly can, to thank him for all the sacrifice he has done to bring as much happiness into our lives as possible.
My dad and I are extremely close, and we love to do all kinds of things together. We both love to play chess and when I was a little kid he used to come home every night from work and teach me how to play the game. And I would say that he is a great teacher because I am now able to beat him in chess all the time. Other than chess, my dad and I love to cook and bake. We got our inspiration, ironically enough, from watching MasterChef Australia. We love to bake all kinds of tasty treats from succulent Chocolate Chip Muffins to lovely loaves of flavored bread to mouthwatering orange cake and once we were finally done, we got the chefs privilege of taste testing (by which I mean eating most of our freshly baked goodies). We have so much fun spending the whole day in the kitchen trying new recipes and ingredients to make our treats as tasty as possible. One slight issue with our cooking is that we are not always the best clean up crew so as soon as we are done baking, we take our share of the goodies and make a quick getaway from the scene before mum finds out about the mess we made.
We are also ‘die hard’ Star Wars fans and we have literally watched every Star Wars movie from beginning to end together. Sometimes, during school holidays we do movie nights where we sleep in the hall and watch all kinds of movies from comedy (my favorite) to thrillers (my dad’s favorite). However, my dad and I never watch horror films - we both hate creepy characters and basically anything that is related to horror. During these movie nights, my dad always falls asleep earlier than me and often I have to wake him up to remind him that his favorite movies are on. Despite this, we always have a great time whether it's laughing at a hilarious character or sitting on the edge of our seats, anticipating the next move of the hero in an action film.
That is why my dad is truly my world, not because we share common interests but because he takes his time and spends it with me, always prioritizing family over everything else and always trying to bring joy and happiness into our lives. That is why I would like to wish not just my dad but every other dad who is reading this a very Happy Father’s Day because you are your family's world just like how my dad is my world.
