How did you come up with this recipe?
I’ve been making this snack since I was in primary. My mum and I watched a few videos and tried it out. We really liked the outcome and others did too. So, from here we tested different types of cornflakes and adapted the recipe to our family’s liking. I’m glad that we made this because I foresee this recipe to be kept for years and years.
Any advice for the future food tech students? (Tips for mocks, experience/feelings in mocks)?
It is mocks season so it’s normal to feel pressured, stressed, burned-out and just not having the energy to study anymore but I found that small things like making people smile helped me to become more motivated. I made honey cornflakes in preparation for CNY instead of relieving some stress. However, after making it and giving it to friends and families, I realised that the satisfaction that people received from this dessert gave me a lot of comfort. So, my advice is to go back to your roots, do something that you used to do as a child and maybe it might just give your breath of relief back again. For food technology students, the coursework may take a lot of mental struggles but refer to old reports and see what gets you the points. Practice skills when you have the time and just enjoy the process because it will all be worth it.
