From January 7th to January 24th, I sat for 8 exams: English Language, Literature, Additional Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer science and Geography.
December
I started revising in December. I found out that the ‘Fill in the blanks’ method worked well. In my notes, I erased a few words and filled in spaces. This method worked well with Physics because I had to memorize nearly 30 formulas before the exam. After filling in all the blanks, I also attempted past year papers. I recommend trying a lot of past papers because it guides you on how to approach the question and how to answer them to achieve the full mark.
January 7th: Biology and Geography
Biology is my favorite subject, and it is the subject that I enjoyed revising again. When I opened the test paper in the exam hall, I felt a huge sense of relief because the first question was the past paper question that I tried right before the exam (this is why past papers are good). For Geography, I tried the paper 2 (map skills) and the paper 4 (fieldwork questions) for the first time, but through this exam, I could see the format of the questions that will come out in the real IGCSE. It was good practice to test my understanding and skills on a map.
January 10th – 13th: Additional Math, Computer Science, English Literature, English Language, Chemistry
I had exams for four consecutive days! I do not remember much about this week because I was exhausted and nearly at the breaking point. Regardless, I am proud of completing these exams.
January 24th: Physics
The physics exam was way after the other exams, so I had plenty of time to prepare for it. I
spent most of my time revising formulas and doing past papers. The exam went quite well (I
think), but still, I have to wait for the results...
January was a tense and arduous month, so I would like to say “Well Done” and “Good job” to all the Year 11s who worked hard at the start of a year.
The We At Tenby team also sends you a big round of applause and good luck in any further exams you have for Year 11s and sixth form students! Feel free to leave any comments for the students who worked so hard!
