Here is how we at the We@Tenby team, spent our Christmas break!
Xander My Christmas break was fantastic. I got to spend some time at the beach before going back to my hometown, Kuching. Kuching is in Sarawak, which is in East Malaysia. I hung out with my cousins, ate and slept a lot and basically packed in a lot of R & R. Christmas in Kuching has always been great as my grandma cooks up a storm for Christmas dinner and there are the presents to look forward to. After missing Christmas reunion in 2020 due to the pandemic, I was really looking forward to this year’s. With the addition of a cookie decorating competition amongst the cousins, suffice to say Christmas 2021 was an awesome celebration. As New Year’s Day drew closer, I had mixed feelings. On one hand, I was looking forward to going back to school and catching up with friends. On the other, I was sad to be leaving Kuching. 2022 is going to be a challenging year for me as IGCSE draws inevitably closer. There is also the ever- present threat of a certain persistent virus that has annoyingly resisted and thwarted all our efforts to stamp it out. I want to take this opportunity to wish everybody a joyous and blessed New Year.
Jing Yi This holiday break was fun. This Christmas, my family and I decided to go to Penang to visit my relatives and cousins. It has been around a year since I last visited Penang therefore I was really excited. Besides the long and bumpy drive, the view of the beach was breath-taking, especially during the evening. Although it was only a 4-day staycation, I enjoyed relaxing and finally taking a break from school and tuition.
Seung Yeon My Christmas holiday this year was amazing. My family and I took a trip to Penang. It was a 4 hour drive from my house and I enjoyed every minute of my visit. My family and I walked around and enjoyed delicious foods and drinks. We also went to the beach and I had the most amazing time going swimming with my brother. After 2 days of swimming and having fun, I had my last dinner with my family before we parted.
Kysha Over the holidays, I went for a staycation in KL with my family. I went swimming with my cousins which was quite fun. I haven't been swimming in a while. During the staycation, I tried new food and was honestly surprised. I also went out a lot with my parents. Most of the time I was at home spending time with my family or at my grandparent’s house playing with my cousins.
Jolyn This Christmas break was filled with joy, excitement and stress. Although I got to enjoy myself by celebrating Christmas with my family as well as the Winter Solstice, the reminder that mocks are just around the corner kept me on my toes. I have also been reading some new books I got as well as creating more instagram posts for our site!
Dohyen This year’s Christmas holiday was entertaining and exciting for me. I went to the cinema with my siblings to watch ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, and went to a restaurant with my family. I also continued reading books. This holiday, l have read the entire Harry Potter series. With the books, I have also watched the Harry Potter movies. In January, I am looking forward to going back to school and meeting my friends and teachers.
Qiao Yet This year’s Christmas holiday was great for me. I visited the cinema for the first time in 2 years to watch ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and it was a cinematic masterpiece. Over the break I’ve been polishing on my art skills, I even learnt how to sculpt! I didn’t really go anywhere over the holidays and I’m fine with that. I like to keep to myself at home rather than socialize with people really.
