I can’t sleep…
It’s 3 am, I had just woken up from my slumber and I felt like I needed to quench my thirst. So, I got out of bed, went to the kitchen, grabbed a glass of water and I quickly guzzled it down. It felt so refreshing and relaxing that I could go back to sleep peacefully. But when I turned around, a spark of light appeared. It got bigger and bigger; before I knew it, it had formed a mysterious portal.
Confused. Shocked. Bewildered. That was what I felt at that moment. I froze, not knowing what to do. I asked myself: “Should I tell my parents? Should I go back to sleep and pretend this didn’t happen? What should I do?”. As a curious and adventurous 13-year-old, I went into the portal not knowing what would happen next.
As I opened my eyes, I was teleported to a strange forest. There was a huge fog blocking most of the pathway. It had this mysterious and eerie atmosphere that I felt - I didn’t feel so good. As I ventured through the forest, I realised something. I had this feeling that something was terribly wrong. A dark figure, which I had noticed in my shadows, had been following me. I turned around to see that nobody was behind me. Strange and confused, I continued to venture into the mysterious forest. While I kept walking, I continued to feel that someone had been following me. So, I turned around and to my surprise, the figure was there standing and staring right into my soul. I freaked out, not knowing what to do. Just moments later, the figure quickly ran into me and I felt like I had absorbed that thing.
Suddenly, I felt dizzy and uneasy. Then, I woke up gasping for air. Huff puff… I realised it was just a nightmare. I am so glad it wasn’t real. But, I felt very weird and uncomfortable, like something wasn’t right. I brushed it off and went back to sleep.
“Darling, please wake up! Are you okay?” cried Mother.
“She’s not waking up…” replied Father.
