New Years Celebration

Mukatdeep

New Year is a time for expressing gratitude to the year that passed and anticipating the year ahead. Every individual commemorates the New Year uniquely — some visit temples, others gather in the city for the countdown, some spend time with family, while others prefer to sleep through the transition. Here is my experience from this year’s New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

On December 31st, 2023, I awoke to the final day of the year, realizing it was New Year’s Eve. After a refreshing shower, I dressed for the day ahead. Starting with a delightful breakfast of pancakes, I savored the last meal of the year. Following this, I retreated to my room to pen down my New Year’s resolutions. Prepared and eager to embrace the challenges of the upcoming year, I heard my mom calling me downstairs. We were to meet my cousins at Roberto’s.

We enjoyed lunch together before returning home for a much-needed nap. Upon waking up, I indulged in my FC24 Career Mode for about an hour. As the time approached midnight, I gathered my family, showered, and got dressed for the final moments of 2023. I spent New Year’s Eve at my temple in Petaling Jaya, engaging in meditation, prayer, and hymn singing with the community. After the midnight prayer, we rejoiced in a midnight feast featuring an ice-cold cup of Milo and some personal favorites like Roti Canai.

Following the satisfying feast, we headed home for a restful night before the eagerly awaited morning of January 1st. Rising was a challenge after sleeping around 1:30 AM, but eventually, I got up, dressed for the first time in the new year, and went out for a family breakfast. Afterward, we connected with cousins on my Dad’s side, relished in food, and played some active activities. Later that day, we met cousins on my Mum’s side at a restaurant in Subang.

That wraps up my New Year’s celebration — a vibrant and enjoyable experience. I trust you had a delightful New Year’s Eve, and I eagerly await hearing about your December 31st and January 1st experiences.
