Selamat Hari Raya to everyone who is celebrating this delightful event!! One of the busiest and buzzling times of the year always calls for indulging and making memories with loved ones, which I surely accomplished this Raya! I attended two open houses that served Rendang, Lemang and even my favorite - Ketupat!! Other than that, homework and spotify were my best friends… I mean, homework without a dance party interruption is just incomplete…. Well actually, it may have distracted me from completing my tasks but it was fun while it lasted! Furthermore, I was given the chance to explore the streets of Kuala Lumpur during the hours of darkness lit up by the luminescent lights and the nostalgic tune of Balik Kampung playing within the walls of shops. What a perfect fit for this festive occasion!

This year's Hari Raya seems more festive than last years. Borders are opening and that means families can finally meet after years of no contact. I have already been photobombed with pictures of my friends’ gatherings and their beautiful and shimmering baju kebaya. Oh and those scrumptious feasts! However, I have only been snacking on Dominos pizza and KFC, and getting tangled in my latest romance reads. I am grateful for this break before my maths and Malay IGCSEs as I am able to loosen up and get distracted by rom coms. Good luck to everyone who’s sitting for their exams soon and also, Selamat Hari Raya everyone.

To those celebrating, Selamat Hari Raya! I hope everyone enjoyed their well deserved break and managed to celebrate safely with friends and family! I personally didn’t do much during this holiday apart from working on one drawing (that I’m still not finished with - it’s been 5 days…) and celebrating my birthday! Oh, and not to mention listening to the…fascinating yet invisible fireworks. During this break, I also experimented with unfamiliar mediums which I don’t use much, such as colour pencils, in preparation for my component 1 coursework! Anyways, this break was a healthy balance between work and rest and I hope that everyone enjoyed this break and their Hari Raya celebrations!

Selamat Raya Everyone! I’ve been blasting “Suasana Hari Raya” to get into the mood and even made my own custom duit raya packet. Back in Kuching my family were finally able to hold a reunion Hari Raya dinner and my mom, dad, sister and I were able to join virtually! While my aunts and uncles were busy “berbual-bual(ing)”(chatting), my cousins and I hopped into a game of PUBG! We got so loud our parents had to hush it halfway through, as we were excitedly shouting directions to where to go and where the enemies were. Lastly, a day before the holiday came to an end, I had a dinner filled with delicious food and good company, playing monopoly deal and gossiping with my neighbours. They served ketupat, an out of this world rendang and ended the night with an overly indulgent kueh platter all in a buffet style so i was able to eat till my heart’s content!
Raya for me is a time of family, so I hope we were all able to “mengeratkan hubungan” (bond) with our loved ones, even if they are “jauh di mata tetapi dekat di hati” (far in the eye but close at the heart).

Selamat Hari Raya, to everyone celebrating! This festival has really grown in excitement, with dazzling decorations and lights everywhere I go. It’s great to be seeing more of those celebrating being able to reunite with family and friends to celebrate this special occasion! 1-Utama had some startlingly beautiful huts and traditional food standing proudly on shelves so if you can, be sure to go visit! My mom and I made some delicious ayam rendang as part of this festival, which we shared with our neighbours. For me, I hadn’t celebrated much, but the gorgeous pictures people uploaded on Instagram warmed my heart. I hope everyone celebrating sprouts great memories with their loved ones, and have had a great holiday!
